DIY Gift Idea | Calming Bath Salt Soak December 21 2017

 


 

A homemade gift is always a great idea, especially one that is easy to make at the last minute! Bath salts combine the benefits of aromatherapy and minerals for a gift that benefits mind and body. All the ingredients can be found easily at your local health food store, and you can package them in recycled jars. Add a hand-drawn tag to make it extra special!

Epsom salt baths are a great way to increase your bodies absorption of Magnesium, which helps your body produce its main source of energy and impacts at least 300 enzymes. Epsom salts relax muscles and draws toxins out the body for a full-body detox while the steam of the bath releases the aromatherapy benefits of the essential oil blend.

It's important to combine your essential oils with a couple tablespoons of oil before mixing with the salts so that they are evenly distributed and safe for the bath.  

Recipe

1 cup Epsom salt
1 cup Himalayan pink salt
1/2 cup Baking Soda 
2 Tablespoons oil of your choice (Coconut, jojoba or olive oil work well)
20 drops essential oils of choice 
Optional: 1 teaspoon dried lavender or rose petals

Combine essential oils and oil. Mix together salts and baking soda then drizzle the oil mixture on top and mix well. 

Spoon into a clean glass bottle. Cut a square of fabric or wax paper and use a string to fasten around over the lid of the bottle. 

 

Suggested blends

Calming: 5 drops Lavender, 10 drops Rose, 5 drops Geranium
Stimulating/energizing:
 6 drops peppermint, 4 drops eucalyptus,  6 drops grapefruit, 4 drops pine
Muscle relaxing: 8 drops black pepper, 2 drops peppermint, 5 drops lavender, 5 drops marjoram 
Decongesting: 8 drops eucalyptus, 8 drops peppermint, 4 drops pine
Relaxing: 4 drops clary sage, 6 drops frankincense, 4 drops lavender, 6 drops ylang ylang.

 

Note: Bottle in glass jars only, as essential oils can degrade plastic over time. Make sure the rose petals are small enough to easily pass through a drain.
