Facial Cupping Ritual

Discover the benefits of facial cupping and improve the skin’s radiance while naturally sculpting, toning and restoring.

Benefits of Facial Cups

Our facial cupping set, made of high quality silicone, gently pulls the skin away from deeper layers of fascia, smoothes wrinkles and revitalizes the look of skin.

Cupping promotes increased blood circulation, which offers many benefits:

  • Increased elasticity in the face
  • Sculpts, tones, and firms sagging skin reducing the appearance of discolouration and fine lines
  • Reduces puffiness and the appearance of dark circles
  • Rejuvenates the look of dry, dehydrated, and devitalized skin
  • Relaxes facial tension

How to Use Our Facial Cups

  • Always prep the skin with plenty of serum in order to help the cups glide smoothly over the skin
  • Use a mirror so you can see where you are directing the cups and how much suction you are using
  • Always keep the cups moving, do not let the cups sit on the skin as this can cause slight temporary bruising/redness
  • Start with a light amount of suction, the cups are most effective with light suction so they can glide smoothly
  • Watch our How-To video and follow along

How Facial Cupping works

Using the silicone cups on your face creates a gentle suction effect. This suction pulls blood and nutrients from the deepest layers of the skin, to the surface. This stimulates your skin and leaves you with a refreshed glow.

This gentle suction also helps to drain lymph nodes and increases the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the skin. This microtrauma helps to encourage your body’s healing response sending platelets, white blood cells, and other healing and inflammatory responses to affected areas. This is great for areas with more stagnation like fine lines, uneven tone and dullness.

When to use Facial Cups

We suggest using our facial cups once a day, either in the morning or at night, when you have time in your routine. If you have sensitive skin, use the cups 1-2 a week only, as not to over stimulate the skin.

Facial Cup Care

Wash your facial cups after each use with warm water and natural soap. Place on a cloth to air dry.

Contraindications

  • Facial cupping is an extremely effective and stimulating treatment. For that reason, we recommend not using them if you are experiencing any of the following conditions where you would use the cups: inflamed, irritated or damaged skin, broken capillaries, moles, skin tags, warts, severe acne, eczema, psoriasis, sores, undiagnosed lumps, melanoma, cancer or current use of blood thinners.
  • Avoid high heat and sun exposure 12 hours after treatment.
  • Do not leave cups suctioned on the skin without moving them as they will leave bruising.

The History of Cupping

Cupping is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatment often applied over acupuncture points using specific warmed, glass bulbs. The warm air in these glass bulbs creates a vacuum drawing fresh blood and nutrients to the surface of the skin. Usually, this form of cupping is performed on the back to help ease muscle cramps, tension, and stimulate detoxification. You have probably seen the common red, circular marks on a person's back after the treatment.

Cupping therapy has been a part of numerous ancient healing systems, such as Chinese, Unani, traditional Korean, Tibetan, and Eastern Traditional Medicine. The ancient Greek physician Hippocrates wrote and compiled extensive descriptions of the cupping application to treat the deep accumulation of fluids and pain. It was also a popular historical treatment in Arabic and Islamic countries.

The cupping treatment we now most commonly see is often applied over meridian points on the back to help ease muscle cramps, tension, and stimulate detoxification. Traditional Chinese medicine practitioners often use this treatment alongside acupuncture and moxibustion.
