Immune boosting Garlic infused Honey

I love making medicine using everyday food!
Honey and garlic are both amazing on their own - when you combine the two you have an extremely powerful cold and flu fighter.

This is my favourite immune boosting secret weapon. I take it at the first sign of a cold or flu by the tablespoon.

Honey
Unpasteurized honey is full of enzymes, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. It's a powerful antibacterial, antiviral and anti-fungal. It also won't spike your blood sugar like refined sugars do. Our honey is locally made by our employee Anna's father. You can find great quality honey at any farmers market or great health food store. View our Q&A with local beekeeper Dennis Edell here!

Garlic
Garlic is a powerful immune booster. Also a natural antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal. It is a great decongestant and expectorant, while full of vitamin C, allicin, sulphur, and selenium.

It's really easy to make your own Immune Boosting Garlic Infused Honey, here are the steps:

Supplies
- 1 Mason Jar (I used a 1 L, but you can start with a smaller jar to test it out)
- 10-20 heads of garlic (depends on the size of your jar)
- Unpasteurized honey

Directions
1. Start peeling the garlic gloves. Break them apart and carefully chop off the end.

2. Smash each clove with a knife and peel the cloves

3. Put cloves in a clean jar, until full.

4. Once the jar is full of cloves, fill it up with honey.

5. Push out any air bubbles and put on lid

Leave jar on your counter for 5 -14 days. The honey will absorb the beneficial properties of the garlic. At this point, you can strain the honey and keep the garlic in the fridge and use it with 1-2 weeks. Put the honey in a jar and take a spoonful when you feel a cold coming on.

Enjoy!
