Sarah joined our team last fall, bringing with her a wealth of experience and positive energy. She can be found performing facials, blending custom serums and dishing out expert skincare advice.
Why (or how) did you become a holistic aesthetician?
I trained at a college in London 8 years ago when I disconnected from the financial career path I was on. I wanted to find an industry that was personal and built heartfelt relationships with people so I became interested and found myself relating more to the holistic practices of an aesthetician. It connects you to people and nature much more and this is something really special that had always been in my psyche.
What are your favourite parts of being a skin expert / whats your favourite part of the job?
I enjoy learning from my clients both for their benefit and for mine. Being constantly challenged, inspired and questioned is such a valuable way of self-development. I thrive on sharing knowledge and assimilating more skills as a way of evolving both a personal and professional pathway.
What is your daily skincare/beauty ritual?
Since I discovered facial brushing and massage I couldn't live without it! Of course there are days I miss this step and I really notice and feel the difference in my skin health inside and out. Every bag I own has our Lavender and Peppermint lip balm
so I'm never feeling dehydrated or not kissable! I'm also obsessed with
eye drops and carry these with me at all times to liven tired and sensitive eyes giving clarity to the 'window's in my soul.'
What are a few ways you practice self care?
Daily meditation. Peace and quiet without technology. Getting outside the city and into some fresh, non-polluted air and be part of nature's backdrop for a little respite. Also just spending simple quality time with friends around a dinner table always makes me happy.
Any favourite skincare tips?
Never leave the house with bare skin. Even if you only have time for a quick facial mist spritz and 10 second serum
application. Make sure you do this to stay protected and healthy against the free radicals of the outside world.
What's your favourite DIY skincare recipe?
Mixing our dry clay mask
in with organic local honey and our moisturizer
is a really great way of ensuring the skin feels detoxified and smooth. This gives an instant brightening look and you'll feel perfect for a pre-event or as part of a weekly skin ritual.
How would you describe your perfect 'day-off'?
I'm very much a morning person so I would start with some stretching and meditation then have a slow start over coffee. I'd ideally like to fit in some cardio and then take a long drive with a friend with a great soundtrack to take in some scenery and stop somewhere for a hike or have a car-picnic overlooking new landscape. I'd likely lose myself in the environment happily for hours and feel restored...and then return to the city for a late night light dinner and moonlight walk home.
What's the best advice you've ever received?
If you are present with others, and patient with yourself; you are exactly where you need to be at that moment.
How do you prioritize self-care and helping others?
Listen to your body and answer your mind. Whether that be rest, inspiration, quiet time or exhilaration. If self-actualization falls by the way side I find you cannot and should not give others the energy they need themselves until you strengthen and reset your own spirit. Human connection is a beautiful thing but it's equally important to know how and when to shield yourself against external influence.
If you could travel anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go and why?
If there was only one place to choose I would jump on a plane to Grasse, South of France to immerse myself in the rich history of botanical cultivation and be inspired by the art of perfumery.
