Our Women We Admire series is our way of supporting and sharing the stories of incredible women whose values match ours. Today, meet Charlotte Singmin. 

This multi-hyphenate is anything but basic.

Charlotte Singmin is a multi-hyphenate: Mom, model, freelance writer, yogi, content creator, and wellness entrepreneur behind Raw + Basic. Through her brand, she curates and hosts wellness events, including panel discussions, wellness retreats, journaling sessions, and live meditations. 

Tell us about yourself.  What made you feel passionate about lifestyle? 

On my site Raw + Basic, and in other publications, I love writing about parenting, plant-based living, yoga and meditation, fashion, beauty, and other lifestyle topics. 

I'm passionate about wellness as a lifestyle, and I love that I get the opportunity to help people by sharing my own wellness tools, experience, and expertise. 

I share my passion for wellness wherever I can. I love social media when it’s used mindfully. I enjoy sharing wellness tips, breathing exercises and meditations on Instagram as well as my favorite plant-based beauty finds and vegan recipes. 

I also love sharing other people’s insight and knowledge so it’s really fun for me to host events featuring other wellness experts whether IRL (hopefully soon!) or on an IG live for example.

What motivates you?

My nine-year-old son motivates me to create a beautiful life for my family and to find a balance between work and play.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve learned from your industry?

Through my experience as a model, I have learned not to take things personally. You cannot control how others see you, nor can you control the decisions other people make, but you can control how you see yourself. So put your effort into bettering yourself and care less about what others think!

What’s your greatest accomplishment? 

I think my greatest accomplishment is being a mom. But, it's also my biggest challenge! 

As a mom, you spend a lot of time trying to keep all the balls in the air. Personally, I am working on being kinder to myself when some of those balls inevitably drop. As a creative person, it can be difficult to find time amidst running a household to get in the zone but honestly, I wouldn’t trade being a mom for anything. My son inspires me every day to make great choices for our family, to set a healthy example, and to work hard and continue to build a beautiful life for us to enjoy.

I am proud of my professional accomplishments, but I always hope to achieve more. I am looking forward to lots of creative opportunities in 2022! 

I love creating exciting authentic content with like-minded brands so look out for more of that this coming year. I have some fun virtual workshops next month so keep an eye out for registration links over the next couple of weeks. 

I have also written a children’s book on mindfulness and meditation and I hope to release advance orders for it in the spring. 

And finally, I am launching a live music and yoga event that I am really excited about! At present, it’s going to be offered virtually, but I hope to be able to host this in person soon. 

What are your top three favorite Province Apothecary products and why?

I would have to say my Dual-Action Jade Facial Roller, and Moisturizing Oil Cleanser + Make Up Remover. Both of these techniques keep my skin hydrated, soft, and supple. The oil cleanser is the absolute best for removing makeup and keeping my skin nourished.

What would you like skincare lovers to know?

I think skincare is something to enjoy, to equate with self-care and ultimately self-love. So give yourself those moments in the morning and before bed to nourish yourself by feeding your skin - show your body how much you love yourself by taking the time to treat your skin well.
