SKINCARE TIPS FOR HUMID WEATHER July 22 2021

Contrary to popular belief, humidity can be a great thing for the skin when using the right products and adjusting our routines to ensure our skin stays in balance. As the humidity rises, we produce more oil which provides us with increased barrier protection, allowing us to use lighter products to hydrate and cool the skin.

Congestion and inflammation are among the top concerns we hear from our clients in this weather. Below are our favourite ways to bring our skin back into balance during the hot sticky summer months.

Dry brushing! Through the action of gentle dry brushing, lymph fluid held in facial tissue just below the surface of the skin is pushed into lymph vessels, travels to the lymph nodes, and is expelled from the body. This action will help prevent congestion by supporting our skin’s natural detoxification process.

Light water-based hydration is vital to help balance the skin in the humid months. Our Invigorating + Balancing Toner contains Rose Flower Water to help cool and protect the skin, while Geranium works to balance sebum protection. For added cooling benefits, let it chill in the fridge for a few minutes before spritzing the skin.

Use a light oil blend to help balance sebum production. Oil is one of the best ways to balance the skin, even in hot, humid weather. Our Clear Skin Advanced Face Serum is the perfect blend to hydrate the skin without being too heavy. The molecular structure of Jojoba Oil allows for better penetration into the deeper layers of the dermis. At the same time, Sea Buckthorn Oil helps decrease inflammation in the skin and supports our skin’s natural cell renewal process. Add a few drops of water to the oil before applying it to the skin to ensure deeper penetration.

Masking! Incorporating a clay mask into your skincare routine 1-2 times per week during the summer will help absorb excess oil, reduce inflammation, and tone the skin. Our Detoxifying + Clarifying Clay Mask is a blend of four different clays, making it mineral-rich and suitable for all skin types. We recommend blending our clay mask with raw unpasteurized honey to help balance bacteria in the skin and reduce inflammation.
